1867: Foundation of the” Maronite Charity Association”.

1897: Restructuring of the above mentioned association, the new name is ” Association of Brothers of the Poors”.

1933: The Association of Brothers of the Poors is endowed with new statutes and changes the name to be known as “The Central Council of the Maronite Societies”.

The Central Council of the Maronite Societies was founded by His Grace Mgr Youssef el-Debs Maronite Archbishop of Beirut.

The mission of the Central Council of the Maronite Societies is:
1- To provide its help to the most deprived of the Maronite community.
2- To ensure at the best the free education to the neediest persons.
3- To raise the social and cultural level of the community.

3- Adults Education Program – Upgrading Courses
4- Children’s Xmas
5- CCMS Restos
6- Food parcels
7- Punctual Interventions Program
8- Maintenance of Ras el Nabeh cemetery

Members of the Central Council of the Maronite Societies are:
1- The presidents and the official delegates of the maronite charity societies.
2- Significant personalities co-opted by the presidents and the official delegates of the maronite charity Societies.
3- Significant personalities nominated by His Grace the Beirut Maronite Archbishop.

In every parish of the Archdiocese of Beirut, a Maronite Charity Society is founded. All the societies are grouped together into the Central Council of the Maronite Societies.

The Central Council of the Maronite Societies is formed from fourteen maronite charity societies listed hereafter: Saint George, Saint Maroon, Saint Elie, Saint Michel, Saint Joseph, Our-Lady of Deliverance, Saint John the Baptist, Our-Lady of Rosary, The Sacred Heart, Saint Anthony of Padua, Our-Lady of Donation, Saint Sharbel, Saint Peter & Paul and Saint Anthony the Great.
